Ixquick is a metasearch engine that like DuckDuckGo touts itself as a privacy-based search engine by not keeping logs and does not record IP addresses. It has a variant, startpage.com which bases its results on Google‘s algorithm rather than combining results from multiple search engines.
The company was however founded by David Bodnick. It began in 1988 in the Netherlands and later expanded to offices in New York.
It does default with a safesearch filter on seemingly requiring a cookie to be stored, however it allows all its preferences to be stored in a URL instead.
