Fox Sports’ search for a new Sugar Ray Scott Leonard comes to an end with the signing of the former Cleveland Browns star to a two-year contract.
The 25-year-old is expected to make the final roster, with Leonard’s former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the team to make an announcement.
The deal comes on the heels of the signing by former Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Austin Pasztor on a two year contract.
Leonard was waived on Dec. 14.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Leonard had a breakout season in 2016, rushing for 804 yards and six touchdowns.
He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and 2018.
Leonard is coming off a career-high in rushing yards, rushing TDs and rushing touchdowns.
He is the second of three finalists for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, which will be announced Dec. 12.
The previous winner was Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper in 2018.
